Eurythmy Student Life

Eurythmy Student Life

What is it like to be a eurythmy student?
It must be all different depending on the schools, languages, countries, destined groups and who we are.....
Eurythmy5

Eurythmy out of Anthroposophy

Meeting with Anthroposophy- what does it mean to us?
Everyday this question comes to us throughout the training

What is anthroposophy?
What is then the art that came out of it?
And what are we going to do about it?

There is no right answer; we face it, we have freedom to decide. How true, how modest, how loving one can be? This is the inner voice in every eurythmy student.

Eurythmy: how do you study?

No books at the beginning.... But we move, move, move.

Anything that pin things down (including this site!) can become an obstacle, and thereby a great challenge to eurythmy.
Cam we live in each moments truly and freely without any attachment?

The modern consciousness we all live in now, creates a tendency to feel most at ease in static, and we find comfort in something staying still so that we can grasp what it is. But in the eurythmy training we are always challenged to be very flexible, mobile and fluent, not only in our body but also in our feeling and thinking. The wisdom of eurythmy then reveals itself in the in-between-moments of these ever changing processes changing relationships in space time and consciousness. When we gain freedom out of what's around us and also within ourselves, nothing need to be pinned down anymore and this is where we are going. Move move move . . . .

Who am I? How am I? Where am I?

The eurythmy training is a huge mirror that reflects ourselves....
More we want to know, more we can know of ourselves and that is the starting point and the final destination-

How to be not too little?
Not too big?
But one's open, honest self?

How do we let go what we have gained as a habit throughout our life-
Including cultural background and family traditions?

Our attempts to penetrate more deeply into the sound of speech bring us back to our primeval wisdom to help us overcome the intellectual elements in each different languages that stand in the way to our "unity". A "word" is a source of all beings as it mentioned in St. John's Gospel –– In alphabet we can find whole human beings. "The one who speaks" creates the new relationship to the world- and at the same time he becomes the "one that is heard". Therefore we create the relationship; "I and the world." In contrast, when we penetrate to become the tone of music which lead us to the "time-dimension",we realize to co-exist with our universe, macrocosmos in our body, microcosmos. Therefore the relationship here is "I in the world, the world in me". Which brings total different experience to "speaking and being heard" and "sounding at the same time hearing". More we become conscious to what we are, more we feel the need to become neutral, at the same time most engaged in all aspects of our existence!

Sounds like a big task, and yes it is, if you have to do it all yourself ––
But don't be afraid. We have our fellow students striving toward the same goal. We can finally look into ourselves by bumping into others. More number of hand-written-circle on top of each other creates much closer perfect circle. That's why eurythmy is a social art. This is how we meet ourselves and others in the eurythmy training — and this is how, we as human beings develop when we hold our good will within the community of man.

We need each other, and that brings us much closer to the archetypes –– most beautiful human figure. The key is our will to unite –– although we all know this consciously or unconsciously. Maybe we modern people know it more in our head. The task of eurythmy is to create that as a reality, as our experience thorough warmth of our heart. Yes, we have long way to go! Well, shall we go slowly, one step at a time?

Starting eurythmy- first step to the class

When we were accepted into the eurythmy school, we were asked to bring a eurythmy dress and shoes. But these are not the most essential, it is more important to bring with us;

Our open heart enabling us to learn and change
Enough hope and faith in our new path to last for at least for 4 years ...... maybe the rest of our life......

This is only just the beginning.....
